Leif Ostrander, gray-bearded, in a dark suit at his desk

Leif Ostrander

Senior attorney

I take the cases that go to trial, and the ones that should.

I have spent my career in criminal courtrooms, mostly on theft and burglary cases and the felonies that do not settle. I like a case where the facts are tangled, because that is where careful work pays. I also coach our younger lawyers before their first trials.

How I think about a trial

A trial is a decision, not a default. I tell you early what I think a jury would see, and I tell you again after every new piece of evidence.

If a trial is quoted, it is its own flat fee, in writing, before you owe it.
